{"id":4353,"date":"2011-12-25T18:11:06","date_gmt":"2011-12-25T23:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/debslunch.com\/debslunchblog\/?p=4353"},"modified":"2011-12-25T22:28:21","modified_gmt":"2011-12-26T03:28:21","slug":"christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/debslunch.com\/debslunchblog\/christmas\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re having a merry little Christmas. <a href=\"http:\/\/instagr.am\/p\/bmnse\/\">John<\/a> &#038; Al are in California, so it was just me, Mark &#038; Ethan opening presents. <\/p>\n<p>I got an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.surlatable.com\/product\/PRO-635284\/Cuisinart-SmartStick-Immersion-Blenders\">immersion blender<\/a> &#8211; the purple one &#8211; and 432 minutes of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shoppbs.org\/product\/index.jsp?productId=2048975&#038;cp=&#038;sr=1&#038;kw=julia+child+dvd&#038;origkw=Julia+child+dvd&#038;parentPage=search&#038;searchId=1409719\">Julia on DVD<\/a>. And some really pretty museum gift shop earrings. <\/p>\n<p>I took 3 big trays of cookies to the homeless, and there&#8217;re still some of all of our favorite kinds in the basement fridge. For breakfast, we had potatoes with rosemary from the back deck &#8211; it&#8217;s been so warm we haven&#8217;t even brought the herbs in yet, but that&#8217;s a whole other rant &#8211; and eggs and bacon and giant filled scones, <a href=\"http:\/\/instagr.am\/p\/bph5-\/\">cranberry<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/instagr.am\/p\/bpjJz\/\">fig apricot<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Since it&#8217;s just me &#038; Mark, we&#8217;re just having dessert in lieu of Xmas dinner &#8211; I made a trifle with pumpkin cake, lemon curd, custard and macaroon crumbs. Last night we had our traditional pizza &#038; watch <a href=\"http:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Love_Actually\">Love Actually<\/a>. Thin crust, one was pepperoni &#038; the last of the pepperonata that I had thawed for the cookie party (for <a href=\"http:\/\/m.epicurious.com\/recipes\/food\/views\/Red-Pepper-and-Boursin-Tarts-105901\">red pepper Boursin tarts<\/a>); the other was roasted cauliflower &#038; broccoli (leftover dip veggies also from the party), red onion, and red sauce.<\/p>\n<p>Had a little <a href=\"http:\/\/instagr.am\/p\/brnp5\/\">cheese &#038; crackers<\/a> to tide us over to trifle. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>posted from my iPhone <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/debslunch.com\/debslunchblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/20111225-212816.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/debslunch.com\/debslunchblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/20111225-212816.jpg\" alt=\"20111225-212816.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re having a merry little Christmas.
