Went for a walk this morning and tried to document the heat wave. I followed the bike path to the cemetery and came back through the neighborhood. Things were pretty deserted – most folks staying inside, sealed up in air conditioning – but there were people out on the bike path trying – like me – to get in a little exercise: biking, running, walking; before it got too hot. I left the house at a little after 8:00 and it was not quite 80º – it was 87º when I got back at 9:00, and it’s 100º now. The neighborhood 4th of July parade and block party still went on as planned. I am going to go fold laundry in the basement – coolest spot in the house.
