We went on a quick 4-day getaway to Door County. I was stressed about going (I know unseemly in a retired person, but still) but as the trip got closer and I got more things settled, like combo kitty care with the kids up the street and their dad taking care of the orange kitties and a veterinary student coming 3X per day to give Katie kitty her new meds. Which are somewhat in transition; initially she was scheduled to have surgery on Sept. 4th which was coincidentally the deadline to cancel our AirBNB in Door County, so we’ve been working out her palliative care since then. We even walked to the vet to pick up a new meds on Monday morning before we took off for Door County. Anyways as it all got settled I sort of slowly felt this relaxation, like I could stop worrying and go on the trip. I hope the same thing happens for our longer England trip.
I’m going to do it like a photo essay, so see captions for more.
Our first night there we had dinner at The Fashionable because it’s the same people who ran Wickman House, that we really liked, and our kids went to The Fashionable in the summer and they liked it too.
After coffee we walked along the street of big fancy houses on the bluff above Fish Creek.
We had breakfast at Shiny Moon cafe above the grocery and then we went and walked more in Peninsula State Park. Altogether we walked 14 miles that day.
Our bartender/waiter at Fashionable told us about this new place he was involved in, Inland, that was just opening and we went there for lunch on Wednesday.
Then we went and walked on the beach.
And White Gull Inn fish boil for dinner.
And home to cats who were actually kind o happy to have us back after they got over their mad.
