Usually I remember Father’s Day by what dessert I make for Mark. But this year is the first year where we have grandkids, so I decided to collect a bunch of father & kid photos.
My brother & daughter Mimi and what I had to say about that in 2014

To me, the picture – besides being a miracle because my niece is almost smiling – is a miracle of genetics. My brother looks like our dad – though much slimmer – my niece looks just like John, especially this really old picture of John I just found, sitting on the steps of his high school), and like her mom.
Other than all the dads and sons and daughters, the other things of note this weekend were Al & Emma & Jasper came over for brunch and we had waffles and bacon – not shown because we’d eaten it all by the time this pic was taken – and fruit and cimmy buns.
On Saturday we biked to the farmers market and then I stuck around and handed out book marks for the forthcoming Dane County Farmers Market Cookbook. You should be able to scan the code in the pic below to pre-order. I tested recipes for it, did not contribute.
Then I did a Costco run, a weird combination of ridiculous, unnerving, and interesting as always.
Saturday night I made Bryan Washington’s chorizo tacquitos, popular drunk food in Houston, I believe. I even bought tater tots to serve them with. Before dinner we reserved an Airbnb in Toronto, so I guess we’re going to TIFF.
And Mark got cherry pie for Fathers Day dessert.
And Jasper turned 7 months on Monday, Juneteenth observed. The day after Father’s Day.
