We went to Chicago yesterday for an overnight to see the Symphony perform Beethoven, the 8th and 5th symphonies. So popular and a Saturday night, it was a much more mixed-age group than the Friday or Sunday matinees we go to, where in our 60s (oh, and 70s I keep forgetting …) we’re the youngsters in the crowd.
We had take out dinner from Xoco, eaten in our hotel room, no pics of that. We got guacamole with bacon and tomatoes on top, always delicious, a Cubano for Mark, and at the last minute I switched my order from pork tacos to the “seasonal tlayuda“, described as a giant crispy tostada, and the current toppings being bacon, black beans, and squash I was drawn to it. It arrived in a pizza box, and was tasty but would have been a lot better if it wasn’t ice cold. And John and Megan came to meet us for a beer in the hotel bar, no pics of that either.
Here’s the rest of the photos from the trip.
I think I am going to have to make my standard breakfast at Little Goat be either the biscuits with sausage gravy or the corn beef hash. Last time we were there there I had This little piggie went to China, a form of biscuits and gravy, but just a little too rich, and this time I could have done without the star anise or 5-spice powder with star anise that was the spice in the spiced apple pancakes. The bacon was really good though.
