On Wednesday I went to Chicago to see Robyn Hitchcock. I took the bus both ways, left at 1:00 Wednesday and was back in Madison by 12:30 Thursday so it was a quick trip.
Fun though.
Robyn had an electric band with him, so I was hoping for more Soft Boys and Egyptians tunes, and that’s pretty much what we got. The Nashville Fabs consisted of Pat Sansone of Wilco on bass & vocals, and a guitar player & drummer whose names I didn’t catch – sorry guys. The drummer was a long haired guy from Australia, who had also been in Emma Swift’s band. The guitar player had curly hair and I assume was a Nashville session player.
Here’s the set list:

Before the show we went to this barbecue place, Honky Tonk Barbecue, that was right across from the bus stop. I had a brisket sandwich and Alison had a fried green tomato BLT. Paper straws and home preserved cherries in my old fashioned, but not overly hipster, just nice.
