On the last day of May (during my staycation) I started the process to move my personal websites, mostly word press blogs, over to a new hosting service. It was a long process, or at least in my case it was, because I didn’t just move files, I transferred my domains – and that can take up to 7 days. And since word press blogs run out of databases, it’s a little more complicated than just moving files. Though I still do have to do a bunch of file-moving; there’re probably just shy of 200 that’ll have to be moved to make my old site work.

I kept importing Deb’s Lunch from a word press export and getting 63 out of 230 posts Aaaarrgghh. Then I tried restoring from a database back up and for awhile, I could see all my posts & pages in the edit mode through the word press dashboard, but when I went to the live blog, it was a blank page. Fortunately that got fixed by updating a single setting in WP – yay for Bluehost support!

I think everything’s working now. The migration is why these last three posts all appear to have been done June 11 – this one was, but the one about John’s room is from the 3rd, I think, and the one about our parent’s house maybe the 2nd.

And Al found his check book. The coffee cakes for Ethan’s grad brunch are in the oven, and smelling good. Al got pie, John got quiche & blueberry muffins – John graduated pre-blogging; Ethan’s getting coffee cake and breakfast burritos. If the republicans would just stop doing shady stuff (the plot to dismantle WiscNet is one of the worst so far) and the weather’d be more normal, it’d be easy to believe that everything will be fine.

Not Barbara Kingsolvers newish book, that I am trying to read, but instead, a hole or gap in my day. That started with a 7:30 a.m. Co-op meeting – we looked at the audit report, which was actually a lot more interesting than it sounds. I actually wish the regular BoD meetings could be more like this finance committee meeting was. We had to go sign some papers in front of a notary, after – the application for the co-op’s liquor license for the new store on the other side of town. I misunderstood about what credit union the notary was at, so I drove, but I could’ve biked. Still, I used the opportunity to get the old eMac brought to work – I drove into the parking garage under my office, and got a cart to get the computer up the 4th floor. The IT guys think they might have a use for it, and if not they’ll send it to the university’s surplus. I didn’t want to pay to park, so I headed over to the ramp where I have a permit, but I couldn’t find my hangtag pass, at least in traffic, so I went to a city ramp instead. We just got our new passes – the parking year is September thru August – so I was afraid I accidentally tossed the new one in the trash or recycle along with the old one.

John came up from Milwaukee to take his broken computer to DoIT. Here’s the gap. We got coffee at the Peet’s in the Union, then we had to circle computer science for awhile to find a parking spot. Dropped that computer, and went home to get my new iMac to loan to John. It took the two of us – both college graduates – 20 minutes, and we had to watch a YouTube movie to figure out how to get that iMac back into the box.

Packed up hummus & pita & tabouli & leftover pizza for John (and some hummus for my lunch), then I had him drop me at the parking ramp, and he headed back to Milwaukee. And the parking pass was hiding in the pocket on the side of the door behind a big wad of napkins. John texted me while he was setting up the iMac, and now I think he’s gonna want to keep it.

I was gone from work from 11:30 to almost 1:00. And stayed till 5:40. And it was too late to do the bank deposit that I couldn’t do at 12:50, because the line was too long. And the city ramp cost $10.00. So it seemed like a good idea to start a batch of veggie broth, then bike to the church to vote, and pick up an order of Pad Thai for dinner. Even though I couldn’t mail the check to my CSA because I forgot to put a stamp on it, and I still couldn’t do the bank deposit.

posted from my iPhone & Mark’s iPad
(John’s got my home iMac, remember …)

So it’s that really yucky part of the spring when it’s cold and damp and the snow is melting to reveal mud and trash. Last night I had a cheese sandwich for dinner – a sub, made with whole wheat sub bun bread from the sub shop up the street, sliced Tillamook cheddar from Costco, carrot & daikon slaw from the meatball bahn mi sandwiches I had made to eat while watching the Oscars, and Ovens of Brittany dill mustard dressing. I warmed up the bread a little, but somehow it still was a cold and not quite satisfying dinner. I finished off the Hershery’s kisses that had been in a (covered to keep the cats out) serving bowl in the counter.

Today I went over to the co-op for a 7:30 a.m. finance committee meeting, and then had about 50 minutes to fill, before a staff meeting to announce the site of the new store. My plan was to go to the coffee bar up the street, get coffee and sit and work on my slides for tomorrow’s lecture. I had a Tupperware of Cheerios and a banana and a spoon in my bag, and I bought a pint of milk to put on my cereal.

There were no seats whatsoever at the coffee place at 9:20 a.m. on a Tuesday, so I went back to the co-op, parked on the street, pushed the seat back in the car, and ate my cereal & banana in the car while reading a book.

After the meeting, I came back home to work and wait for the furnace man – the thermostat’s been being weird and the heat’s been dropping too much before it comes back on – we ended up with a new thermostat, but that’s another story.

I wasn’t really hungry, but I still felt I deserved some kind of sit down breakfast, so I finished the carton of Mountain High yogurt with a little granola. I guess I really just need my mommy to make me one of her comfort foods, like tapioca pudding with the egg whites whipped so it’s fluffy, and eaten warm, or maybe fried bananas.
