To coincide with my baby brother’s 54th birthday, I cooked a brunch yesterday. There was a good crowd, 20 people, including a three-generations group celebrating mom/grandma’s birthday. I’d love to stick around, but gotta go fold all the napkins, before they get too wrinkled lying in the bottom of the dryer.
Every so often I start feeling a little guilty because I do all my cooking for the dining club, and make my family eat leftovers. Not too terribly guilty because the leftovers are pretty damn high quality, but still a twinge or two. So today I made cinnamon rolls just for us, and we ate [...]

Sunday I made brunch for a group of Hospice Care workers – it was their holiday party. I’d put on a baby shower for this group in the spring, and they’re really fun – completely unflappable. This time, they ate spinach quiche and ham quiche – the base of the filling for the spinach was [...]

I have this taste memory of some kind of prune bar that my Grandma Mollie made. We didn’t like much of her cooking, it was too different from what our mom fed us, but I loved her cheese blintzes and these bars. They were square bars that she stored in a tin, and in my [...]
… And write – and here I am again a once a week blogger. There’re a lot of things I could blame it on, but I’d rather not. Last weekend I sent my foster daughter off to camp, so Saturday we went to Old Navy, and got her packed. I made some beef and peapods [...]
