For our big dinner out in New Orleans, we went to Luke, one of Chef John Besh’s places. Luke is Besh’s more casual place, in comparison to Restaurant August. It’s kind of German/French/New Orleans and heavy on the pig – in a good way. I had shrimp & grits, the shrimp and buttery grits were […]
I had a little extra time, so I took the little camera out on the walk back from the convention center to Mulate’s for the (not-too-well-attended) SLIS reunion. I think this is kind of a low-attendence conference in general; no one has travel money, and librarians are still iffy about coming to NOLA.
Mark took a 2 minute iPhone vid; I only took a couple pix of the trumpet player. He was a) wearing a Brewers hat, and b) cute. trumpet player with Brewers hat posted from my iPhone
So I’m in New Orleans for the librarians’ conference. We were last here in 2006 – the first big conference to come in after Katrina. The opening general session started with inspirational videos, like a high school age girl singing “I need my library”. I suppose I should’ve been more inspired, but it’s hard not […]
Last weekend I was in San Diego for the grocery co-op conference. I got back, and now we’re leaving again for the librarians’ conference in New Orleans. Yesterday I took in Rach’s orphan produce ‘cuz she’s traveling a lot too – we had a smoothie made from her strawberries & a banana for breakfast this […]
Last night in San Diego, we went to the parking lot of a wine warehouse/bar, 57 Degrees, to sample the wares of about 15 food trucks. On Thursday, out for a stroll on our first night in town, we walked past the Farm Truck, coming in at the end of the day to the restaurant […]
So after just being here in January, I’m back in San Diego again. In January I was here for the librarians conference – this time it’s food cooperatives. One nice thing is that in contrast to ALA, CCMA is small enough to fit into one hotel, in this case the Hard Rock – the picture […]
No food involved, except for thinking about dinner….Thai? Pizza? Leftovers? posted from my iPhone
Tonight for dinner I made two of the recipes from Heidi Swanson’s new cookbook, Super Natural Every Day. One of them I liked in principle; the other I plain old liked. The one I liked in principle was the Spinach Chop. This is blanched and chopped greens cooked briefly with olive oil and garlic, and […]
On the last day of May (during my staycation) I started the process to move my personal websites, mostly word press blogs, over to a new hosting service. It was a long process, or at least in my case it was, because I didn’t just move files, I transferred my domains – and that can […]
